Review by Twitt nBravas

The Seventh Son by Mose Allison is a timeless album that showcases the talent of the jazz pianist and singer. Released in 1963, the album features a mix of original compositions and covers of classic blues songs. Allison's smooth vocals and intricate piano playing are complemented by the backing of a talented jazz trio.

One of the standout tracks on the album is the title track, "Seventh Son," which is a bluesy number with a catchy chorus. Allison's rendition of "Parchman Farm" is also noteworthy, with his soulful vocals and bluesy piano playing bringing the song to life.

The album's overall sound is a fusion of jazz and blues, with Allison's unique style shining through in each track. His piano playing is both technically impressive and emotionally resonant, and his vocals are smooth and expressive.

I have been a fan since that 1950s and finally saw him in person at Huey’s on a Sunday night in downtown Memphis. Thankful for the opportunity to finally see and hear him in person.

Everybody talkin' 'bout the seventh son
In the whole wide world there is only one
And I'm the one, I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son
I can tell your future, it will come to pass
I can do things to you make your heart feel glad
Look in the sky, predict the rain
Tell when a woman's got another man
I'm the one, oh I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son
I can talk these words that will sound so sweet
They will even make your little heart skip a beat
I can heal the sick, raise the dead
Make the little girls talk outta their heads
I'm the one, oh I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son.

I'm the one that is sorry I never saw you live when I had the chance, Mose. The world is a lesser place without you, man. I just saw the Yardbirds live here in Richmond, VA tonight (3/30/19) and they played "I'm Not Talkin'" (giving you credit of course) and now I am in a Mose Mood! R.I.P.
